Sydney based footwear company Sapato Imports has picked up the distribution rights to cutting edge shoe label Fly London. Produced in Portugal and targeted at "men's and ladies' fashion conscious heads", the brand is distributed to more than 20 countries, as Sapato's Adam Westheimer confirmed.

"Always progressive, never conventional, Fly's omnipresent, surreal charm is evident in a collection that takes you on a stroll down a 20th century memory lane, with influences from the 20s to the 80s."

"For no less than the third time in four years, Fly London [pictured left] has once more been nominated for the prestigious Footwear Brand of the Year award at the [UK] Drapers Footwear Awards. Shortlisted as one of this year's exceptional performers, Fly's uniquely quirky designs and detailing have established it as one of the brands to watch; it is unlikely this celebrated accolade will elude them for much longer."

Sapato Imports has also revamped in-house brand "Veronella" (pictired right). Made in Brazil from premium leathers, Veronella was ramping up its fashion content to target the young fashion market, Westheimer said.

Other brands in Sapato's stable include Irregular Choice, Poetic Licence, Moda Spana, Romanelli and Cruz.

A regular exhibitor at the AUSTRALIAN SHOE FAIR, Sapato Imports will showcase a range of its products at the upcoming trade fair, co-located with FASHION EXPOSED and the Bags & Accessories Fair, at The Sydney Exhibition Centre from 14-16 February 2010.
