Homegrown brand Skeanie will be making a welcome return to Australian Shoe Fair when it showcases its latest ranges there in late August; and with a heritage inspired directly by market demand, it's likely to be a hit with children's footwear buyers.
Skeanie was created after founder Natasha Barber became frustrated by the lack of good quality, affordable shoes on the market when her son Hamish was born. Perplexed by the Australian market's dearth of a healthy, style conscious footwear brand for infants and young children, Barber took a life changing decision - setting out to research, then design and finally launch Skeanie infant footwear.
Australian owned and designed and fair trade made, the Skeanie brand has evolved steadily since those early days, with an infant range featuring soft leather suede soles that are perfect for pre-walkers and early walkers, as well as a junior range designed for walkers, featuring an innovative flexible rubber sole.
Aware that little feet are predominately comprised of cartilage with the last bone not formed until children are about three years old, the Skeanie brand, a preferred provider of The Australian Podiatry Association, is designed for support and freedom of movement, incorporating the fundamental design elements recommended by podiatrists and paediatricians
With the Australian Podiatry Association stating that early foot health is critical to later development, Skeanie has taken serious steps to provide a brand that takes children's footwear to the next level.
Skeanie will showcase its latest ranges at the Australian Shoe Fair from 29-31 August at Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
